QTH: Mount Kisco, New York
Equipment: Drake R8B and 40 meter longwire fed by coax and noise-reducing matching transformer
Note: Approximate reception distance was 7,000 kilometers.
PIRATE (S. Am.). 6307.26, R. Pirana Int'l, 2339-0042 Jul 25, RPI's new QTH and antenna setup worked wonders, as I was able to hear them every evening and morning. The best reception was today, as I was able to recognize songs by Creedence, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Van Halen and Guns 'n' Roses. ID's after almost every song. SINPO was 23332 on this evening. What was interesting was the best signal was prior to my local sunset. Amazing what a 15-20 watt MOSFET transmitter can do. Thanks to Jorge Garcia for giving us such an interesting DX target for so many days while he was on vacation. (Maroti-NY)
