Probably not a pirate, but does anybody have any idea what station broadcasts on 6355 kHz (early evening). I logged it as an unID on Sunday the 5th,Feb.2006 with a SIO of just 111 at 18.25 utc. There was so much QRM/QRN that it was difficult to even ID the language, but a YL and OM appeared to be reading news. Just prior to that, they had been playing MoR mx. I breifly tuned in again last night (around 19.15 utc) and although the station was there, it was very weak and the noise was overpowering.
It may just be CNR, AIR, Korea, or some such station. I checked a few "official" listings, but found nothing. It may even be a harmonic from somewhere, I'm just curious.
Hey radunio, no problem, sometimes you just dont know where you should post it.. hehehe.. and main reason that i did put this forum online is that people has something to read and get answers.. so,,, hehehe
Hope you all enjoy this forum, tips and ideas more that welcome. also anyone that would like a forum to run in this message board...??
Thanks folks for your replies.
Sorry if my post turned out to be a bit controversial
If the unID station hadn't been on the popular 48m band, then I'd probably not have asked on this forum. As it happens, I wasn't 100% certain that it wasn't a pirate.
Radunio: I'm sure Paul is correct about the harmonic, I'll have a listen out at sometime.
Paul: Voice of Iraqi Kurdistan does have a tx on 6335 but not on 6355 kHz as far as I'm aware. Thanks anyway.
