Pirate Report from Dunlo, PA, USA, ending 4 January 2008

Post by Dave Valko »

These loggings are a mix of both what was received here and on the Bedfordshire UK web receiver. Those on the web receiver are marked as such. Order is by date and time. Conditions this morning (4 Jan.) weren't good enough to make a trip up to the remote site.

6210 R. East Coast Holland 1156 "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2, 1158 anmnt but returned too late to copy, more Rock mx. 1210 "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes. 1219 nice ID anmnt, SMS sounding like 0031-6215426740, greeting to Dr. Tim, "Very good afternoon". Into Schlager. Massively strong signal. Web rx. (31 Dec.)

6260 R. Borderhunter 1205 End of choral song and voice-over anmnts, but all I could copy was "OK, your listening to the...", greetings. 1208 "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac. 1212 duet. Complete f/out 1222-1227, then almost immediately went up to S-9 +50!! 1231 remake of "Something" by Joe Cocker. Another fade 1234 and never did come back up to the peak level. Finally back up enough at 1300 to hear "Twilight Zone" Golden Earring. 1302 another anmnt w/ment of Borderhunter, "other bands". Weak w/some horrible UTE QRM, lcl QRN, and occas. heavy QSB. Web rx. (31 Dec.)

3910 Skyline International R. 1233 Pop song. 1236 M in GM voice-over Polka, and SMS #., and ID "?? International Radio", good afternoon, greeting to Dr. Tim, Iann in France "music today is for you", ukDXer "the music is especially for you, and thanks for the report on the chatbox", more GM anmnts. Another ID at 1239:35. 1240 "Ronda Would You Like to Ride on My Honda". Web rx. (31 Dec.)

6248.2 R. Dr. Tim 1308 end of Polka, mx jingle (no voice), then instru. Pop-like song. 1312 singing jingle, and into more Polkas. Waltz at 1322. Then an SSTV signal, and back to Waltz mx. 1331 jingle again. Still going at 1352. Good at times, other times fading badly. ID per Ianns blog. Web rx. (31 Dec.)

6325 R. Monte Carlo 1338-1342 "Reflex" by Duran Duran. 1342 started a song then stopped it, long deadair, and off at 1344. Good at this time. ukDXer logged Monte Carlo here 10 minutes later. Web rx. (31 Dec.)

6265 Premier R. Int. (pres.) Playing R. Nova 1347 jingles, followed by R. Dublin jingles, deadair, then off 1350. Web rx. ukDXer said this was Premier R. Int. Web rx. (31 Dec.)

6325 R. Monte Carlo Song by Metalica 1401, then lively instru. Quite a contrast!! More Rock mx. 1412 deadair. 1414 “Rockin in the Free Worldâ€

Thanks for the logs, Dave! I've been listening since Boxing Day, too, but haven't had any luck, aside from Mystery Radio & carriers. Seems like conditions have been really bad and most stations are signing on too late (judging from UKDXer's blog & Achim's blog). I listened from 0830-0915 today while checking the blogs, but I couldn't hear Altrex, Dr. Tim, Orion, or Misti, so I went back to bed.

Maybe next week...

Thanks Dave and Andrew. We where on 5815kc Dave, but the voice could have been from R. Tina too. The songs are loged here but not the voice ;)
Happy New Year to you both, if I didn't say if before
