London Calling.

Very noisy conditions here this weekend. 4000 to 4100 was very noisy. 5800 to 5850 was quiet. 6200 to 6220 was quiet. 6220 to 6450 was OK. 6900 to 7000 was terrible! I'm guessing this was just local noise(Not surprising living in the London suburbs) But,I'm curious as to the noise levels you had thi...

London Calling.

The bands were a bit noisy here today, which spoilt my listening. Propagation was average. The strongest Pirate signal was from Scotland, but he was running 1 Kw! My UNID on Friday night on 3900 was as strong as Scotland though.Any claims to that one? Also, the station that played "Dragonslayer&qu...

I see the "Non-stop Music & no ID stations are still there......very boring. Why don't these guys take a leaf out of Radio Merlin's books........he does non stop music before he starts his programmes but he uses different themes each time,so it's never boring, and often plays ID jingles too ...

Radio Calypso.

I don't listen to Medium wave that much these days but I have to comment on the signal from Radio Calypso on Saturday evening. It was only just dark and he was crashing into London! Saturday 05/11/11 1629Khz - 1735-1740 - Radio Calypso - 45444 - Dutch Music. Then Booker T & the MG's - "Time ...

Seems like conditions were a bit "Short Skip" today as the Dutch stations were a little weaker than normal here and UK stations were coming in better than normal. Radio Alice decided to close down on Friday evening so that he could listen to Skyline. I enjoy Skyline as well. But I like Alic...

Quite a busy weekend with fairly good conditions. Skyline kicked the weekend off well as usual with his normal good signal & a nice mix of music. Titanic had a huge signal on Saturday night & some nice tunes too. Good to see Laser have moved from 4015 to 4025.Much better! Orion kicked off Su...

Re: London Calling.

I'm afraid I did Dave,

You see, that is the downside of not "Twiddling with your knobs" all the time..............there is too much to listen to and you can't
listen to it all.

I did what I said I would this weekend. I listened more and tuned less. It was great! Loads of great music played all weekend. Skyline kicked it all off with a great mix of tunes on Friday night,I didn't listen much on Saturday, but on Sunday morning I tuned to Orion playing Heart, followed by a nice ...

Re: London Calling.

John,

I do that too,but it's not the same.
You can't really enjoy two broadcasts at the same time.
Your concentration always goes to the "Tuning" radio!

Re: London Calling.

Hi Dave,Frans and Mike(And all Alfa Lima readers), I thought it was a point worth making. It's nice to log a lot of stations(But others logged a lot more than me) But this is not a competition,it is about enjoying yourself. And I realized that I would have enjoyed myself more if I had listened longer ...

While it's great to have so many stations on the air as today. It also poses a dilemma for most of us "DX Listeners". Listen to a station you are really enjoying or tune around? You may be really enjoying what you are listening to,but what if you are missing something more exciting further ...

Quite poor conditions overall this weekend. But still a lot of activity. I started the weekend tuning to 3905(As you do!) to listen to Henk(Skyline) and was surprised to hear Zodiac instead. I love Skyline but I love Zodiac too,so it was a nice surprise.Always good to hear Zodiac. And anyway,I still g...

Other logs show plenty of activity. But I had quite poor conditions here this weekend but wonderful weather.I suspect many Pirates did the same as me,left their radio's alone(Or used them only briefly) and made the most of the weather. Friday 23/09/11 3905Khz - 2150-2155 - Skyline Int Radio - 34433 -...
