Logs from Newfoundland, June 20- July 5

Post by newfoundland dxer »

Hi everyone:

Conditions have been quite good these past 2 weeks, considering that it is summer. Of course, most of my logs are 2100 or later now that sunset is so late.

A very special thanks to the crew and all the announcers from Summermeeting Radio. Listening to you guys (and watching the webcam) was great. Thanks for the many greetings. Wish I could have been there!

Hello Terry (and dog, haha!),

thanks again for your log of us at 30-06-2011 on 6315kcs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(...and enough, haha!!) :horay:

Power was only 25watts by using again any inverted vee antenna, 10mtrs high, located on any 500mtrs high mountain here.

Thanks therefore that you spend such a lot of time to receive any free radio stations there!!!! =D> =D> =D>

Greetings,

Hi Terry,

Yout UNID on 6990.5 kHz could well be Lightning Radio, as announced on the blog of Rick from Finland.
I can hear a faint carrier every day before s/off at 17.00, and a very weak station on again at 20.35 and till very late, but allways just at noise level, so I can't really understand the IDs, something like " ------ Radio". The nominal frequency announced is 6990 kHz. Even when there is no static, there is some noise or utility in the background. The schedule seems well respected till now.

Hi Ray:

Thanks for the info. I have never managed to hear any details from this station. And now there is a utility very close to 6990, so I can only detect the carrier most nights.

Caro: I listen so much because I enjoy what I hear

Hi,

It's very likely, that both of you heard Lightning Radio, our exact frequency is about 6990.5 kHz.
The power is 25 watts here too, the antenna is a dipole 8 meters above the ground.

BTW, I can send a QSL to any of you via e-mail if you want, just send me the date, time and
sinpo reading.

Thanks, Peter
