London Calling.

Post by Andy Richards »

Well, after saying that Barones was usually stronger than Bandung here is another example of a very good signal from Bandung!!

1647Khz - 2200-2205 - Radio Barones - 55434 - S9 + 20
1638Khz - 0008-0011 - Radio Barcelona? - 34433 - S8
1656Khz - 0011-0014 - Radio Bandung - 55444 - S9 +40

Amazing signals from all three, but Bandung was unbelievable!!!

Hmm, very interesting. Were these signals received the same day ?

I noticed the Barones signal being received when it was not yet dark ? whereas the Bandung signal was received in the middle of the night.

Maybe we need two antennas, a (top loaded) vertical during the day/evening and a horizontal during night time. :?

The results i had on saturday with Barones compare against an unidetified Dutch station, maybe Bandung. Maybe different antennas or power levels.
Saturday 11/8

Conditions on MW was good last night, but strange ? Barones was weaker than the Dutch station on 1656. That station also had much less QSB on his signal. Maybe use of different antennas is the reason, at least 2 or 3 s-units difference.

1648: R Barones at 2157 UTC playing some Dutch music, SINPO 34222

1656: UNID at 2200 UTC playing Dutch music, SINPO 44344

Apologies Arie,

My logs were for Saturday Night/Sunday Morning......I should have mentioned that.So I logged Bandung about two hours after Barones, when conditions here are usually better for Dutch stations.
It would have been better to hear them both at the same time.I have heard them both in QSO before and invariably Barones had the better signal.
Having said that,I have never heard Bandung this strong before & probably only once has Barones been that strong before.
By the way,who was the other station? They were very strong too.
