6970KHz - 16. 10. 2004.

Post by edl »

Yesterday (16. 10. 2004.) at about 22:45 (local time, Hungary) I heard on 6970KHz an UNID station.

QTH: Hungary, Páty (20km far from Budapest)

The signal was very strong. No QRM. It was like a high power legal station.

The station transmissed music of high standard (nice pop/jazz in english language).
It was very good felling to fall sleep to this music!

There was just music, no talking.

In the Internet I haven't found anything about this station/frequency.

Can anyone help me?

(In this frequency, before I usually heard Spy Numbers Stations (Linconshire Porchire, England)

My RX was a commercial "Samsung" shortwawe scanner, with telescope antenna. (My big and old hungarian military receiver and the 41m long Windom-antenna are not i use in this months. )

6970 kHz ?

Post by Robin Banneville »

Hi edl,

Just an idea...

Listen in again today and check to see if the freq you logged this UNID on is exactly 6970 kHz. I receive Galei Zahal (Israel Defence Forces Radio) very clear here in Guernsey on 6973 kHz... Western EE mx is often played on this station.

ILG quote this b'cst as; 17.00 - 03.00 utc, 5kW, in Hebrew, (but I've listened in sometimes in the past and heard very little speach, just music).

Hi dimss,

I'm listening on 6973 kHz at the moment (21.35 utc), occaisional western mx is being played., otherwise OM and YL talk, but I am unable to comment on content... :?:

This station is not a "pirate" as such, but is Galei Zahal b'casting from Israel.

Is this the station you are listening to do you think... :?:

Radio Cairo 6970

Post by curious george »

To add further confusion to all this, Radio Cairo is transmitting on 6970 kHz. Next time you hear a station on 6970, check to see if 7260 has parallel programming.
