New kind of spam

New kind of spam today :

bogus new user IgrekGrom add his spam to an older thread, so it is less obviious that his message is not related to the forum topics.

Still thinking that adding some form of exam in the registering process could help filtering spam.

I agree something should be done. This new spammer is harder to delete as he attaches his message to genuine posts.

I know when you join Yahoo groups, like Dr Tim's, the moderator has to approve your application, before you can join.

Can this be done here by Alfred, John (Orion) or another moderator to stop this endless tide of spam?

just done

Nuked three spam-related activations already

I agree,

One week later we all have deleted a lot spammers; and it works well. We also added some new users as well.
I'm sure I am normaly on line every day. And because the different in time between Glowbug and us new users don't have to wait that long to use the forum.

Cheers,

john

It does seem to be working well at the moment. I haven't seen any spam since the changes were brought in.

Thanks for your hard work tidying up the forum.
